August 18, 2020 General Election

On August 18, 2020, the qualified voters in the Village of Indiantown will have the opportunity to elect two Council Members for four-year terms.  The polls will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.  Voters may also choose to vote early or vote by mail (more information below).  The seats that will be up for this election are:

  • Seat 1: Incumbent Guyton Stone
  • Seat 2: Incumbent Janet Hernández 

Qualifying Information:

Individuals interested in running for one of the two open seats should contact Village Clerk Susan Owens at sowens [at] indiantownfl.gov () or (772) 285-7740 to schedule a mandatory Candidate Orientation videoconference to go over the election process and receive the necessary documents. In addition to the required forms and reports, there is also a $100 qualifying fee required.  All candidates must be registered voters in the Village and be able to provide proof that they have resided in the Village for at least one year prior to their qualifying. The Qualifying Period is noon on June 8, 2020, to noon on June 12, 2020.  (Potential candidates, please see important notes regarding the Qualifying Period at the end of this page.)

Vote by Mail Information:

In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Martin County Supervisor of Elections Office is strongly promoting the Vote by Mail (Absentee Voting) option this year.  This is a safe, easy and trusted way to make your voice heard this election cycle.  For more information on voting by mail and how to request a mail-in ballot, please visit Martin County Supervisor of Elections' Office's Vote by Mail webpage.  There is also a Fact Sheet listed in the files at the bottom of this page that helps clear up any misinformation regarding this voting option.

(IMPORTANT NOTES FOR CANDIDATES: Due to the pandemic, limited public access to Village Hall and staggered work schedules, it is highly recommended that candidates email their qualifying forms to sowens [at] indiantownfl.gov (), in .PDF format only, and mail their checks to the Village’s PO Box.  In person assistance during the qualifying period is limited to June 8, 2020, and June 11, 2020, and is subject to the availability of the Village Clerk. Pre-arranged meetings are strongly recommended to avoid any scheduling conflicts.

Please be advised that if you are dropping off hard copies of the required forms and/or the qualifying fee check, you must do so by 6:00 p.m. on June 11, 2020, since Village Hall is closed on June 12, 2020. As Village Hall is currently closed to public access, candidates will need to call ahead to (772) 285-7740 to arrange for drop-offs. If mailing your qualifying forms in, please note that postmarks cannot be accepted, by law; so, please plan accordingly.)
